Aerial Peter Pan

Hello, Lovelies!

I have a fun post for you today!

Last August I joined a group of fabulous girls in putting on a show, Peter Pan: an Aerial Introduction to the Characters!

We all put in a ton of work over a short amount of time. It was all so fast and furious, learning routines and making costumes. I personally had only been training for about 10 months at the time we did the show. All of these women worked so hard and we all came together to put on a fun and great show. It was actually such an amazing time of bonding and supporting each other. I’d say it was one of those once in a lifetime experiences, at least for me.

I had dreamt of learning aerial arts and one day being able to perform with Emma, my youngest daughter. Emma has been practicing aerial arts since she was 9 years old. This was going to be her last performance before going off to college, and I knew it would be my last chance! Just a few weeks before the show, Emma was needed to replace someone in one of my routines! You know what that meant, Emma and I would actually be performing together!

Needless to say, Emma performs way above my paygrade. However, I was so happy and had so much fun being up there on the silks looking next to me and seeing my baby girl! It was a dream come true for me!

We decided to do a photoshoot on my property to celebrate the show. This was a fantasy coming true for me, because I’ve always wanted to do something like this on the property. My real dream is to have the silks hanging from the trees, but there’s a lot more that goes into that, including safety issues. Instead, we set up a rig out among some trees.

We chose this location for the backdrop of trees, and the time of the shoot was set so I could have the light conditions that I wanted. I love the golden hour on the property, because at that time even the weeds look pretty. I was on the hunt for some flair, so it had to be this time and the sun had to be behind my subjects.

Here are the ladies and a few of their pictures:
