Throwback Thursday- Just Do It!

Emma, Favorite Things, From the Heart

We recently went to the Halloween costume store to get Emma’s costume. Yay! Just outside the store were a couple of boards that a person can stand behind and put their faces through so they look like part of the image on the board. See photo above.

Do you like these things or not? I always like them, but there’s that odd moment of feeling really stupid and wishing whoever is taking the picture would just hurry up. Right? But I will say this, when I am taking the picture, I can’t even love it any more than when my model really get’s into character while posing! Well, this is what Emma does. I know she gets it from my side of the family because I don’t even think Steve would stand behind one of the boards let alone stick his head through it. Emma really plays it up!

The reason I love it so much is because there was a time when she was little that it was almost painful for her to go outside because people would be looking at or seeing her. She was so shy it was horrible. She was embarrassed about everything and thought everyone was looking at her. If the store teller talked to her she would ignore them or look away. I had to teach her every time to at least wave or smile so the person would feel acknowledged. If she was given a sticker or some other treat she would have to say thank you.

Over the years, she’s really come out of her shell and it’s so fun to see her really having fun and laughing and not caring if anyone sees her. It’s in these times the memories are made. She’s free to have fun in public and sing and do funny things without getting embarrassed. It’s just so awesome.

This poor Mummy is clearly very lethargic. I mean, he is dead after all.

Evidence about which side of the family this weirdness comes from. My sister here with Emma at the Mission. I like how each character has to have their own personality.

He's still very serious, but now the señorita is much happier!

None of this means anything, but isn’t it fun? Next time you see one of these things, just do it.

Just a girl, on a journey. Thankful for love, thankful for friends and family, and thankful for forgiveness. Full of passion, conviction and hope.
