The Fabulous Flubber!

At Home, Emma, Home School

It’s that time again! Time for yet ANOTHER science experiment. Emma is required to do science experiments along with a presentation board several times a year. We’ve done some fun ones, like blowing up soap in the microwave and staying up all night watching the Blood Moon. She usually chooses what she wants to do but this time I begged for the Flubber! I’ve been wanting to make this stuff ever since I put it on my Pinterest Board!

It was so fun to make and it was super easy. The supply list is tiny and we’ve had a blast playing with the end result. In the process, Emma learned what polymers are and how they change when the mixture turns from liquid to solid. Fun and learning? What? Stop the madness!

Here is our favorite recipe: FlubberScreen Shot 2015-01-27 at 12.22.17 PM

As soon as the borax touches the glue mixture, it begins to harden. We felt more prepared for this the second time around.

Both colors together. PS they actually did get squished together later by accident...

Emma really loved the end results and so did her sister who later visited and made a hand cast out of it on Emma's arm.

At this point Emma announced that she would be a super hero who used Flubber as a weapon and her name would be Flubomatic!

Now it's just getting a little weird, which is pretty standard for us.

Here is Emma's completed board for school. She usually plays it pretty clean and simple, but this time she really wanted to stretch and use some sparkles... You can tell she's the design conservative sister of my three girls.

At least the clean up part is always the same for all three of them... Or lack there of.

Just a girl, on a journey. Thankful for love, thankful for friends and family, and thankful for forgiveness. Full of passion, conviction and hope.
