Hello! I know it’s Sunday but this morning I wanted to post a couple of pics of what we made out of one of our Inspiration ideas.
Last Month my blog post Christmas Cheer was about using holiday greetings to make Christmas signage for my house. Well, better late than never, here are a couple of things we did.
First off, Alix came over and drew a wonderful “All is Calm, All is Bright” on my chalkboard wall. She’s amazing at hand lettering and is who drew our logo for this blog. She’s very detail oriented and precise. After she left I threw a couple of swirlies on it and added some gems and voila!
Next on the list was our Christmas slogan! I just really wanted to make a sparkly sign that said something happy! I should really think about making these during the year because ain’t nobody got time for this crazy schniz during the holiday!

I started cutting the letters out thinking I could keep them all attached to each other but that was not going to happen.

My sister, Korbi and I glittered the sign over Christmas, but realized we needed to do it again. Then, after the second glittering I realized I needed to color the edges of each letter with ink pen. I didn’t like the light mat board showing along the edges. Just saying, HUGE MESS, and my office is very shiny!

Definitely hand made, but I like it. I painted the pieces that hold the sign together for a more finished look.

So the sign never made it up. I’ve learned over time that you may not always get to do EVERYTHING you want for every event, holiday, or party, and you have to let stuff go. It’s better to be happy and fun rather than screaming, yelling, and crabby because you just have to do EVERYTHING you wanted to do. PS No one cares. People like happy people better than perfect people. Anyway, I made this cute little folder out of two of the other pieces of mat board.

Then, I used my handy dandy Duct tape. (You’ll learn I’m big on duct tape). I sealed up three of the edges and slid my little holiday sign in to be kept safe until next year.
So now that we learned what to do, I’m planning what to make for VALENTINE”S DAY! I’m so excited for it! It’s my all time favorite holiday. Something about my favorite color being splattered all over in the shape of hearts gets me really excited! Especially when they are sparkly and glittery and shiny!
Love Your Sign, Kel!! I am also stealing your quote….”People like happy people better than perfect people.” I need to paint that on my office wall!!! 🙂
Perfect! It’s so true, right? I tried to be perfect a long time ago, but then every one around me always looked scared and nervous.
