Beautiful Monday!

At Home, From the Heart

This weekend turned out to be wonderfully productive. After sitting around in the house all day, I finally got up the energy to get outside in the sunshine to pull a couple of weeds. Well, one thing lead to another, and I ended up edging and mowing the lawn, weeding the entire yard, and cleaning out my flower beds. I was tired and sore, but I felt great. Sunshine is highly underrated, and like I’ve said before, I love to work it makes me feel alive. Then, Sunday I reseeded the lawns and planted some new flowers!

I went to church with Emma in the morning and I can’t even tell you what that did for my heart. So many of my frustrations were answered and my heart felt refreshed and renewed. I have clearly been feeling “lukewarm.”  I haven’t been motivated, or enthusiastic, but I haven’t been at peace either. I’m not on fire or refreshing to anyone. After my day yesterday, I know I need to put more effort into my life if I want it to be different. I’ve told my kids so many times, “If you don’t like your life, get a new one!” It’s time for me to take my own advice. I was laughing at myself because I’ve just been doing the same old things everyday expecting to get a different result, and we all know what the means. Right, I’m insane. No, wait! Ok, maybe a little.

What would you do to make major changes in your life? Are you happy right now in your current situation? I feel so happy, but I feel a little disorganized and chaotic. None of the things I want to do are getting done. So here’s the deal, I’m really going to shake it up. I’m gonna get really crazy and change my schedule and see what happens. I know, calm down, right? I’m going to start by setting my alarm for 5 am. What?! That’s right. I seldom have any time to myself and when I do it’s in the evening and by that time I’m exhausted. What would happen if I set an alarm and actually got up and did stuff I wanted to do BEFORE I get wiped out?

I have lists of things I want to do, and I want to do them now, not when we retire. I’m so tired of putting things off. It’s clear to me I need to get up earlier if I’m going to do them. I’ve read that early rising is one of the biggest secrets of successful people. Except for Martha Stewart, I’m pretty sure she just skips sleeping all together. Luckily, I don’t need to be Martha, but having a couple more hours in my day may be just what I do need.

Who gets up early? Tell me what you know.

  1. Hi Kel! What Perfect timing with your post today!!! I Soooo need a good swift kick in the behind! I have been unmotivated as well! Uggg! I get up early, however I find myself making excuses, you know, the usual, “Can’t start a project, have to drive Chloe to school, oops look at the time, time to pick her up,etc…etc…!” I tell myself sometimes, be still & let your mind & heart be still for a bit. Be kind to yourself. You are the most organized, creative, get up & go-go Gal I know! This too shall pass my friend. Thank You for Sharing on your Blog! xo

    • Thank you Kim! I miss you terribly and I also do exactly what you just described. I keep putting things off to the weekend and then do nothing on the weekend… Oh Brother. Thanks for your sweet words and thanks for the comment, it always means so much.

Early mornings really are the best. The world is so peaceful and my mind is clear. I love accomplishing the big things before anyone else is awake.
